Soo what will be the ideal combinations? Anyone think they have figured this out? Who will deal the most DPS, Who will heal the best? What do we need most? etc..

So far I am playing a pyro mage w/ an elemental support base. (DPS)

Chloromancer is my second soul and it seems to provide boosts and heal to a group after every spell cast. (SupporT)

With all these combinations out there, I'm intrigued to try something different as well...

Either way, with all the abilities and soul switchin, it will take learning your class and soul very well so I want to select wisely from the beginning..

Rangers have really insane DPS I must say. They are probably some of the highest hitters.

Clerics are hybrids in Rift I feel, maybe it's because I'm always in a party with Sinjay, but clerics seems to be able to tank dps and heal to a decent extent.

Rogues will be the main base of pvp along with healers I feel. With Nightblade and Assassin dishing out those stuns, things are kinda unbalanced in pvp. Not to mention that rogues can easily get an extra 30% attack power by spending 15 point in 2 of their trees (Nightblade and Riftstalker.Healers are also kind of insane, as we ran into a healer that could withstand 5 or so dps/semi-dps classes just through heals, bring only 2-3 levels above us.

Also, I found that Bard, although lacking in damage, has some truly insane party buffs. (+AP-+SP/ + 200 armor at level 24, really insane.

I'll right more when I'm not tired.

I've been playing Champion - its quite intense but it looks you have to choose at least a second soul to dump shit into.

Ya im playing the mage, i kno real original for me, and its forcing me to place some points outside of fire. Ive been thinking about it though and i might play two roles..

1. Fire DPS, little bit in chloromancer so i can put HOT's on bosses that heal the tank as he engages the boss

2. Chloromancer so i can do party heals and even better and bigger HOT's with a little bit of elemental so I can increase my life power which id be using for HOT's etc

Some of the other souls are still confusing to me. Deciding if their is an beneficial tri-soul build to either be all DPS or all Support is a tough one to figure out

The only simple solution soul spec is if i was going to pvp spec

I kinda want to play a cleric (justicar)

From what I've SEEN, Justicar is a great class but it doesn't have the ability to truly tank. Only to an extent. Basically, in all that it does, it's a hybrid. A damn friggin good one though.

I had a blast with the ranger build using some points in assassin and bladedancer for extra hit&crit as well as melee viability, but I'm looking to sub out marksman for bladedancer for raiding purposes. Assuming max level of 50 at launch, and the current rate of talent point accumulation, this is the build I'm looking forward to trying.

I played Marksman/Assassin/Nightblade, mainly as ranged dps with enough melee to finish my opponents when they close. Worked well for me, since I hate kiting and don't really want to deal with micromanaging a pet.

Nah, its just me Trinity ;)
I really didn't play around with Justicar to bad. I just did the basic build they recommended and it came out well. Justicar/Shaman/Druid build was quite lovely tho.
But I think i might try a shaman or necro for beta 6. :)

From what i've looked at, shaman has the power, justicar has the buffs, and sentinel is a straight healer. You put 10 in druid to get your mana back from melee attacks (comes in handy ALOT)

Cabalist is pretty strong but all the moves need a charge, so unless you have some buffs from justicar you'll tend to die easily.

What i REALLY want to try out is templar, but since its a pvp soul cant really use it untill lvl 50

Inquisitor is a cross between light and dark damage but because of that they really arnt all that powerful.

Purifier is a all a round support character, so they give buffs to allies and remove poison and stuff like that. They can heal but not as good as a sentinel.

Justicars can eventually heal other around them just by attacking so thats a pretty good ability to have.

Thats all my info for the cleric so far

My classes were:

Justicar Primary

Sentinal Primary

Note that the damage number that are show on the calculator arnt acurate due to being able to lvl up all your moves, most of those would be at lvl 5 or 6, so things that say 5 to 6 damage added are more like 30 to 35 plus damage

I think ima try to go hunter/rogue. It always seems that ranged classes are always needed more in pve. Here is a build Im looking at. Not sure if I'll end up doing it it though... I may just go more rogue /sigh.

ranged classes are really great with a pet, if you have a healer on your team, you can send your pet to attack and pull aggro, have the healer keep it alive, while your shooting the mob

I avoided going wide open in marksman 'cause I'm a little scared of the pve aggro from too much aoe - doing fantastic damage is useless when you're dead. Also, marksman seemed a tad more pvp oriented than ranger, though I suppose a lot of that will be in play style and skill.

Well I'm going to play a healer. Guess we can work it out Thourn, haha.

PostFeb 02, 2011#23

I'm guessing it will be easy to change out your souls when you want? Like if I level as a Justicar, but then want to switch it up later on.

its really that easy, sinjay past me because from lvl 1 to 19 i was a straight healer and from lvls 1 to 26 or 7 for him he was a justicar, i only heal now if im with a group or fighting a rift (because straight healing in a rift gets you all the good rewards) But when im doing quest or just running around im a justicar. And if you set up your UI properly switching would only take a sec.
